 IDENTIFICATION BEACONS SERIES RP-1500

Beacons series RP-1500 are the main component of the RailPass system. Are units equipped with microprocessor, serial communications interface and able to read transponders or tags of series RP-1450 to a distance of up to 5 meters (according to model) and at speeds over 200 Km/h.

Each tag of series RP-1450 has engraving inside a unique number of 8 digits, with which beacons RP-1500 allow to know the identity each train (or each wagon) that it has leaned tag. The communication via radio frequency between the beacons and tags is made using high frequency, within ISMB ("International Scientific and Medical Band") at 2.45 GHz., of very fast and safe form, being free of any type of common electrical radio interference. The beacons have, within this band, the possibility of operating in 100 different channels, so several next beacons do not interfere to each other and all of them can read tags.

The transmission radio power of the beacons is within the margins allowed by the CERN for the ISM band, radiating less than 50 mw. EIRP (standard version) or less than 100 mw. EIRP (boosted version). Tags RP-1450, in beacon absence, does not emit signal, being therefore neutral electromagnetically.

All the beacons of series RP-1500 incorporate an electronic extra board for galvanic isolation of power supply and optical isolation of the two communications serial ports.

The common characteristics to ALL the beacons of series RP-1500 are:

    • Reading of tags by means of radio frequency at 2.45 GHz.
    • Reading Lobe or zone of formable, stable and defined range, from 1 to 5 meters at high speed.
    • Communications series: 2 ports, one RS232 and another formable RS232 or RS485.
    • Three optocoupled digital inputs.
    • One Relay. Two optocoupled digital output (open collector).
    • Radar by Doppler Effect with indication of direction and estimation of speed.
    • Reading of manifold tags in the reading area or lobe.

According to the specific necessities of the railway company, the location of the beacons can vary:

    • in via laterally on posts (tags in lateral the trains)
    • in via between rails (tags underneath the trains)
    • in the own train (tags in via)
    • etc.

Within the range of beacons series RP-1500, different models are available:

    1. RP-1500-DC
    2. Standard Casing IP56. (leaned IP65 to later board). Dimensions (mm.): 263 x 176 x 54. Power supply: 12 or 24 VDC. Internal Display for configuration. Reading Range up to 3 meters.

    3. RP-1500-AC
    4. Standard Casing IP54. Dimensions (mm.): 315 x 234 x 128. Power Supply: 220 VAC, internal source. Internal Display for configuration. Reading Range up to 3 meters.

    5. RP-1503-DC
    6. Standard Casing IP54. Dimensions (mm.): 315 x 234 x 128. Power supply: 12 or 24 VDC. Internal Display for configuration. Reading Range up to 5 meters.

    7. RP-1503-AC
