RailPass®

  INTRODUCTION

This document describes the Automatic Train Identification and Positioning System RailPass developed by SIMEC. RailPass comprises as a whole system, a series of elements hardware and software, that depending on the necessities of the railway system, allow to arrange, in via and / or cabin of the information of the location of the trains.

The last object of the RailPass system is to know with reliability the information relative to the situation of the trains, such as:

  • Identification of trains as they pass though by certain points: it involves NOT only the detection of passage of a train but its identification, understood like PHYSICAL recognition of the train that treats (to know what train is, so to speak its like the "train's plate"): we know what and by where.

  • Timestamp association to this identification: we already know what, by where and when.

  • Identification of the Number of Circulation associated to the train, understanding this one like the number that the railway company assigns to each train, and that normally has implicit the destiny, origin, date and anticipated hour of exit and date and anticipated hour of arrival. This information usually is associate to the Number of Circulation in the databases of the railway company. Therefore, we say that it acts just like a ID-Card. We know, finally, what, by where, when and who (with from and to associated).

Let us summarise, therefore, RailPass in the following panel:

RailPass = What, by where, when and who

Depending on the necessities of the railway line, RailPass can get and put at ANY disposal only part of this information (for example, if the railway company has associate univocally the Number of Circulation to the physical Number of train, so knowing this one would be enough...)

You can see the different physical devices from the RailPass System, as well as its preferred locations based on the system of transmission of the required information, by clicking in the wished option (Beacons, Tags, etc.).
